Question by Kristie: congrats/wedding planning gift for FSIL?
I am trying to put together a wedding planning gift for my FSIL and wanted to know some good ideas of what to include. I have some ideas as I am planning my own wedding as well and as her MOH I thought this would be a good way to start her off. She is one of those people who needs to write down/plan everything(she even plans trips to amusement parks down to who will ride with who on what ride lol :) yep, she’s a little quirky, but that’s why we like her!). I already have a wedding planning guide and I was also going to put together a nice binder with worksheets that she can write all her information down such as budget, vendor info, etc., along with folders for her to put papers and pamphlets in. I was going to include a pocket sized notepad as well for her to take with her when she goes to question vendors and tour venues. What else would be a nice touch to go along with this gift?

What a lovely gift!

A bridal magazine might be fun to include, or a wedding etiquette book (as long as she won’t find that offensive).

  1. Wow, I thought I was an extreme planner, but your future SIL has me beat!! LOL Well, I think she will definitely benefit from one of those wedding-planning guides, the kind that have calendars and notes sections as well as little ideas and spaces to make lists. You can find really nice ones at Barnes and Noble for like $15. They are usually very pretty as well, so they make nice keepsakes for people who like to keep stuff like that as momentos.

Also, I think you should get some sort of quirky novelty pen to go with it, something that says “Bride-to-Be” or something on it. That can be her official pen for writing down all the stuff in her planner. Also, I have seen funny little “Wedding Survival Kits,” complete with Advil, Alka-Seltzer, a mini sewing kit for emergencies, etc. Usually that’s something you give them a day or two before the actual wedding, but it would be cute for the planning stages as well.

One more idea- the Emily Post Wedding Etiquette Guide- I love that book so much!!! I first read it when I got engaged back in January, and I learned SO much!!! Most people don’t know all the little wedding etiquette rules until they get engaged themselves, and it is a very handy resource to make sure you’re doing everything right, etiquette-wise. It’s in its fifth edition now, and is definitely a worthwhile bridal gift.

  2. That’s awesome that you’re going to such lengths to make her feel welcome. Maybe you could take her to a spa for lunch and a massage. I’m sure the two of you could both use a stress relief!!!

  3. A picture of her and fiance to remind her of why she is doing it all when things get stressful (which they will).

Oh, and a list of numbers for friends and family that she can call when she needs a moan or there is an “emergency”. That way she will know who is willing to listen and cares.

  4. I was given a subscription to brides magazine by my cousins fiance and I loved it! it really helped in the early months of planning the wedding!
